The Herb: Sage
Sage is the dried leaves of the herb Salvia officinal. This silvery gray leaves is strongly aromatic. Sage can be cut or grounded. The Greek, Italian and European cuisines use sage for seasoning of sausages, poultry and fish. It is traditionally used for its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Originally Sage has been produced in Southeastern Europe. this herb is highly aromatic and has a smooth taste due to different essential oil components. During the Middle Ages, Sage was sed to treat many maladies such as fevers, liver diseases and epilepsy. |
