The Spice: Cloves
Cloves are the dried, unopened, nail-shaped flower buds of the Syzygium Aromaticum. It is a reddish-brown herb and has a strong, aromatic flavor and aroma. Cloves are used in Indian dishes and spices such as masala, biryanis and pickles. Originally cloves comes from Madagascar and Indonesia. The name cloves comes from the French word "clou" that means nail. It has a pungent and aromatic flavor. |
