The Spice: Tumeric
Tumeric is a bright yellow spice and the dried root of the Curcuma longa plant. It is
related to ginger and similar in size.
Tumeric is mainly used to color and flavor prepared mustard, pickles, relish, chutneys,
and rice dushes. It is used in spice blends such as curry powder and rendangs.
Tumericis originally from India, but Peru and China are also sources.
