The Herb: Basil

                  Basil has a uniform green color and is also called Sweet Basil.  Basil is the dried leaves

                  of the herb Osmium basilicum, which is a member of the mint family.  It is a small bush

                  with a sweet fragrant.

                  Basil is mainly used in tomato sauces, pestos, pizza and cheeses.  It is also used in

                  Italian dishes and curry blends.

                  Originally Basil was discovered in Egypt and thereafter it was cultivated by the United

                  States.
